What Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner said about each other at ATP Finals presentation ceremony..
Carlos Alcaraz may have fallen short against Jannik Sinner in the title clash of the 2025 ATP Finals on Sunday, 16 November, but he still managed to charm the Italian crowd in Turin. After the match, the Spaniard delivered a heartfelt message to Sinner, earning loud applause from the home supporters.
Both Alcaraz and Sinner entered the ATP Finals championship match with flawless 4–0 records, but Sunday belonged entirely to the Italian. Sinner dropped his serve just once throughout the contest and clinched a hard-fought 7-6(4), 7-5 victory to secure his second consecutive year-end title.
During the trophy ceremony, Alcaraz spoke highly of Sinner’s performance, applauding the level he brought to the match. He also praised Sinner’s team, acknowledging their role in guiding the Italian to such impressive heights.
“I’m just really really happy with the level I played today. I just played against someone who hasn’t lost a match on an indoor court in 2 years. That shows what a great player you are. You and your team are putting great work every time. You come back even stronger after every loss. You don’t have many but you come back stronger. Well deserved,” Carlos Alcaraz said.
Alcaraz went on to wish Sinner well for the upcoming off-season, noting that the ATP Finals marked the final event on the World No. 2’s calendar for the year.
The Spaniard, however, still has one more event left on his schedule — the Davis Cup, where he will compete for Team Spain to wrap up his season.
When Sinner took the microphone, he reciprocated the gesture, commending Alcaraz for an outstanding season — one that culminated with the Spaniard securing the year-end World No. 1 ranking.
“Amazing season Carlos. Amazing what you’re doing. The whole team. I know it’s a lot of work. A lot of great great memories you’ve done for your career. Well deserved for the year-end World No. 1. I’m extremely happy [for you]. If it’s another player than me I’ll always choose you,” Sinner said via The Tennis Letter.
The Italian went on to say that his battles with Alcaraz have pushed him to improve, providing constant motivation to elevate his game. He remarked:
“You are definitely a player I look up to. A lot of motivation. I need this. Every practice session with big purpose. We are all very happy. The whole fans are very happy to see you play. You’re the most energetic player on tour. I wish you best of luck. I hope to see you again too next year. Hopefully great great battles ahead of us.”
Sinner, who guided Italy to back-to-back Davis Cup titles in the previous two seasons, has chosen to sit out this year’s edition to recover. Their second-ranked player, Lorenzo Musetti, has also confirmed that he will not be participating in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz will spearhead Spain’s campaign, with Germany, Czechia, Belgium, Austria, Argentina, and France among the nations vying for the Davis Cup title this year.
