The Lakers reportedly spent much of the offseason pursuing Kuminga and remained interested in bringing the talented forward to Los Angeles. However, Kuminga ultimately chose a different destination, agreeing to join the Minnesota Timberwolves on a two-year contract.

With that option no longer available, the Lakers may now explore other ways to strengthen their roster around Luka Doncic.

One name that has emerged as a possible target is former NBA champion Bruce Brown.

Jonathan Kuminga Chooses Minnesota Over Los Angeles

Jonathan Kuminga was reportedly one of the Lakers’ top priorities during the offseason following LeBron James’ departure.

Los Angeles remained involved in discussions and maintained communication with Kuminga and his representatives. The Minnesota Timberwolves were also interested, creating a competition for the young forward.

Despite the Lakers’ interest, Kuminga reportedly agreed to a two-year, $13 million contract with Minnesota that includes a player option.

He is expected to take on a significant role alongside Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert.

With Kuminga now off the market, the Lakers have been forced to consider other options.

Bruce Brown Emerges as a Potential Lakers Target

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, Bruce Brown is a player who could be in the mix for the Lakers.

Brown has reportedly been on Los Angeles’ radar for several years, making him a logical candidate as the team looks for additional depth and versatility.

The veteran guard is known for his ability to contribute in multiple roles. Throughout his NBA career, Brown has built a reputation as a reliable role player capable of handling the ball, defending multiple positions and contributing offensively when needed.

His versatility could make him an attractive fit for a Lakers team looking to surround Luka Doncic with dependable supporting players.

Bruce Brown Nearly Joined the Lakers Before

This would not be the first time Bruce Brown and the Lakers have been connected.

Brown previously revealed that he came close to joining Los Angeles following his championship season.

At the time, the Lakers were coming off a trip to the Western Conference Finals and were looking to add another experienced player to their roster.

Brown reportedly considered the opportunity because of the chance to compete alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

However, the move ultimately did not happen, and Brown continued his NBA journey elsewhere.

Now, with the Lakers once again looking for roster help, the connection between Brown and Los Angeles has resurfaced.

Why Bruce Brown Could Fit With the Lakers

Bruce Brown’s biggest value comes from his versatility.

He can contribute as a guard, help with ball-handling duties and provide support when primary playmakers need a break.

That flexibility could be useful for the Lakers, especially with Luka Doncic expected to carry a major offensive workload.

Brown can also contribute as a complementary player without needing a high number of shots. His willingness to perform different roles could make him a valuable addition to a roster built around star talent.

As an experienced NBA veteran and former champion, Brown could also bring leadership and playoff experience to the locker room.

Lakers Continue Searching for Roster Depth

Missing out on Jonathan Kuminga does not mean the Lakers are finished improving their roster.

The offseason still provides opportunities to explore free agency and potential signings.

Bruce Brown represents one possible option, although there has been no official announcement connecting him to a Lakers contract.

The Lakers will likely continue evaluating available players who can provide depth, defense and versatility around Luka Doncic.

The Golden State Warriors have continued to strengthen their roster by signing veteran forward Georges Niang and guard Brandon Williams to separate one-year contracts.

The moves add more depth and experience to Golden State as the franchise prepares for the upcoming NBA season. Williams joins the Warriors after spending the previous three seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, while Niang brings more than a decade of NBA experience and a proven outside shooting ability.

Brandon Williams Joins Warriors on One-Year Contract

The Warriors agreed to sign free-agent guard Brandon Williams to a one-year contract reportedly worth $2.6 million.

Williams appeared in 66 games for the Dallas Mavericks last season, averaging 13 points and 3.9 assists per game.

After going undrafted in 2021, Williams worked his way into the NBA and gradually developed into a reliable contributor. His recent performances with Dallas helped him earn another opportunity, and he will now bring his scoring and playmaking skills to Golden State.

What Brandon Williams Could Bring to Golden State

Williams gives the Warriors additional depth in the backcourt.

His ability to score and create opportunities for teammates could provide valuable support to Golden State’s guard rotation. After becoming a regular contributor with Dallas, the 25-year-old will now look to establish himself with another Western Conference team.

Georges Niang Returns to the NBA After Injury

Golden State also agreed to a one-year deal with veteran forward Georges Niang, reportedly worth $3.9 million.

Niang missed the entire 2025-26 season because of injury, but he brings significant NBA experience to the Warriors.

The 11-year NBA veteran is known for his perimeter shooting and has built a reputation as a reliable three-point threat throughout his career.

Before his injury absence, Niang last played for the Atlanta Hawks, where he averaged 12.1 points per game.

Niang Brings Veteran Experience and Shooting

One of Niang’s biggest strengths is his ability to stretch the floor.

A career 40% three-point shooter, he could provide Golden State with another dependable perimeter option. His experience across multiple NBA teams also gives the Warriors an additional veteran presence.

If he can return to form following his injury, Niang could become a useful rotational player in Golden State’s system.

Warriors Continue Building Their Roster

The signings of Brandon Williams and Georges Niang are part of Golden State’s continued work during the NBA offseason.

The Warriors have been active in shaping their roster through new additions and returning players as they prepare for the 2026-27 campaign.

Adding Williams provides another younger option in the backcourt, while Niang offers experience, shooting and frontcourt depth.

Together, the two signings give Golden State additional flexibility as the team works to put together a competitive roster.

Conclusion

The Golden State Warriors have added two new pieces by signing Brandon Williams and Georges Niang to one-year contracts.

Williams arrives after a productive season with the Dallas Mavericks, while Niang brings 11 years of NBA experience and a strong track record as a three-point shooter.

Both players will have an opportunity to contribute as Golden State continues building its roster for the upcoming NBA season.
