“The moment I saw him, I was immediately attracted to him” – Veronika Kudermetova opens up on her early days with husband Sergei Demekhine

Veronika Kudermetova is widely regarded as one of the most talented players on the tour. Beyond her achievements in women’s doubles, she also made impressive runs in singles, reaching the semifinals of the Cincinnati Open and the quarterfinals of the Hobart International.

“Actually, when I was 12 or 13, my former coach said, ‘This girl married a coach, can you imagine?’ (Laughs.) And then I found myself in the same situation. I suppose that’s a common practice in sports. You spend a lot of time with your coach,” Veronika Kudermetova said via Sports24

“When I first saw Sergey, I had no idea who he was. I didn’t know he was Vera Zvonareva’s coach, and I hadn’t heard that Sergey was a former model for famous brands. But the moment I saw him, I was immediately attracted to him. So… Well, that’s how it happened (Laughs),” she added

Interestingly, Sergei Demekhine also began his career as a professional tennis player. Although he never reached the main tour, he eventually shifted his focus to coaching, where he has since found significant success alongside Kudermetova.
