Novak Djokovic’s dominance in the world of tennis is underlined by an astounding statistic that sets him apart from legendary rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Tennis analyst Guido Monaco has used an impressive statistical insight to emphasize Novak Djokovic’s edge over his rivals, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Monaco, a former Italian player, pointed out that a higher percentage of Djokovic’s overall titles fall under the category of ‘big titles’ in comparison to Nadal and Federer. ‘Big titles’ encompass the four Grand Slam tournaments, the ATP Finals, the nine ATP Masters 1000 events, and the Olympics in tennis.

Djokovic, who recently secured his 97th ATP title with a victory at the Paris Masters, boasts an astonishing tally of 70 big event wins, which makes up a substantial 72% of all his tournament victories. This percentage surpasses Nadal’s 64.1%, with 59 of his 92 titles coming from big tournaments, and far exceeds Federer’s 52.4%, with 54 of his 103 titles falling into this category.

In 2023, the 36-year-old Djokovic has clinched six titles, including three Grand Slams (Australian Open, French Open, and US Open). His straight-set triumph over Grigor Dimitrov in the Paris Masters final marked his record-extending 40th ATP Masters 1000 victory.

Notably, Nadal’s most recent significant title was the 2022 French Open, while Federer’s last big event win was at the 2019 Miami Open.

Monaco, speaking on an episode of TennisMania, highlighted Djokovic’s remarkable dominance in major tournaments: “The numbers are starting to lose sense, because they are so large. However, it is right to remember that he has 97 titles in general, of which 40 are in the Masters 1000 category, 24 Slams, and six [ATP] Finals – which are the most important [events]… If we do the math, there are 70 of this size out of 97 in total: this stuff is absurd.”

Djokovic is now preparing for the ATP Finals in Turin, where he aims to secure a record seventh title at the year-end championships. Currently sharing the record of six triumphs with Federer, the world No. 1 is eager to add another title to his impressive list.

Additionally, Djokovic will represent Serbia at the Davis Cup Finals knockout stage in Malaga later in the month, where he hopes to lead his nation to a second title in the team competition. Serbia will face Great Britain in the quarter-finals, with the Finals stage scheduled from November 21 to 26.
