If you looked at this list of free agents in 2016 you would think I was lying some of these guys were great talents in the league not too long ago but now they have completely fallen out of the NBA one of those guys being DeMarcus Cousins the Los Angeles Lakers took a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers last night.
Their lack of size was definitely an issue in that also I think just getting the ball to Anthony Davis is something they need to do more but it’s clear that the Los Angeles Lakers could benefit from having another big man in their rotation and adding a guy like DeMarcus Cousins who had such great chemistry with Anthony Davis although it was on a small sample size due to DeMarcus Cousins getting injured he had great chemistry with A.D in New Orleans and maybe they could add some size through this trade.
Because prior to this loss to the Philadelphia 76ers the Lakers had already lost two in a row now they’ve lost three teams have been able to exploit the Los Angeles Lakers lack of size and also lack of shooting and when you’re giving up size you’d at least like to get better when it comes to shooting but when the Lakers are running these four guard lineups out there often there’s a couple guys out of those guards who can’t shoot the ball well and that creates a huge issue because when you look at a team like the Warriors who yeah they’re struggling this year but looking back to last year when they went small it was for shooting purposes they were able to be absolutely lethal offensively.
But when the Lakers go small it’s kind of just more of a liability and it’s really just due to Personnel issues the Lakers just don’t have enough guys in the rotation who they can go to for minutes who have legitimate size and that’s where DeMarcus Cousins could really help out this Lakers team cousins has been out of the league for the entirety of this season despite displaying an ability to space the floor as a center and be an instant offense guy off the bench for teams over these past couple Seasons cousins is not the best defender.
I think that the ice he could bring when looking at the current list of free agents he could be a good addition the thing is the Lakers have an open roster spot to work with as they decided to wave Matt Ryan which was a confusing move Matt Ryan hit that big shot against the New Orleans Pelicans but not only that he was one of the better floor spacers for the Los Angeles Lakers and a wing who could provide legitimate size to the team it was a puzzling move as to why the Los Angeles Lakers decided to wave him especially considering that it’s been quite some time since waving him and they haven’t made a trade it would make sense.
If they were making a trade right after and they needed to clear roster room I’m just not really sure why they decided to do that but with an open roster spot maybe this could be an opportunity to sign to Marcus cousins and give him another shot in the league.
