Rob Pelinka has been very active in trying to add more shooting and size to the Los Angeles Lakers roster.
We’re going to be talking about some big men who the lakers could try to add this off-season to add some more sides to the team now it’s important to note that it seemed like the lakers trade for miles turner buddy heel was unlikely just a little while ago but now they’ve been re-engaging in trade talks on and off so i feel like things can really change quickly around the nba and with the lakers having these 2027 and 2029 picks that are seemingly very desired around the league they should be able to make a move if they want to.
So we’re going to look at some moves they can make if they want to add more size and one of the moves they could make is trying to open up some roster room they currently have 14 players on the team and if they were to make a trade where they traded two players for one that would leave them at 13 players on the roster a guy who they have had reported interest in is patrick Beverley so if they could add patrick Beverley to the team while also opening up a roster spot to potentially sign a free agent like Hassan Whiteside or DeMarcus Cousins that could be a win for them if they’re trying to add more size you also get the additional defense from patrick Beverley and a guy like DeMarcus Cousins if he had a consistent role in a team.
He could have a bounce-back year and Hassan Whiteside could provide inside scoring that’s efficient shot blocking and rebounding, let’s talk about yakupoto is a guy who you might not have heard of or maybe you haven’t heard too much about but if the lakers were able to add him in a trade where they traded away Russell Westbrook Stanley Johnson and Wenyen Gabriel along with two future first-round picks his defensive presence in the paint could be really big for the lakers alongside Anthony Davis now he can’t really space the floor but you would be adding two floor spacers in this trade scenario josh Richardson and Doug McDermott is more of just a sharpshooter but josh Richardson can also bring a lot on the defensive side.
So it could be a good trade scenario for the lakers to consider the next player we’re talking about is mason Plumlee Mason Plumlee is a big man for the Charlotte hornets now this trade scenario would involve Russell Westbrook it would also involve kelly Oubre a junior Terry Rozier Stanley Johnson and Wendy and Gabríel what i like about this trade scenario for the lakers is you get a new point guard in Terry Rozier he’s a good scorer he can shoot the ball well you get kelly Oubre jr who’s a three indie wing you get that additional size with mason Plumlee.
so this could be a good trade scenario for the lakers to consider as well the next player we’re talking about is Kristaps Porzingis is a seven-foot three big man he has a unique skill set in that despite his size he can still space the floor really well so if the lakers were to help the washington wizards facilitate a Donovan Mitchell trade.
Maybe they could add kp patrick Beverley and Vernon Carey jr this could be an interesting trade scenario for them with Kristaps Porzingis having a lot of upsides if he can stay healthy and being a good fit next to ad if he is healthy the next player we’re talking about is Myles is an elite defensive big man who is solid at spacing the floor for a center he can shoot threes pretty well and in this trade scenario the lakers would add buddy hill to miles turner they’d be trading away Russell Westbrook Stanley Johnson and Wenyen Gabríel giving them an additional open roster spot that they could potentially used to sign a free agent maybe a guy like DeMarcus Cousins or Hassan Whiteside and the lakers would be trading away their two future first round picks in that scenario.
