Following Sunday’s win over Dallas Mavericks, Lakers superstar LeBron James is reportedly getting additional medical opinions on his right ankle injury. Reports suggest the four-time MVP will be out of action for at least two weeks and will be reevaluated during that time, with his return timeline stretching beyond that.
The Lakers were without LeBron James for Tuesday’s game at Memphis, which they lost 121-109. According to the Associated Press, the seriousness of Lakers star LeBron James’ injury is still unknown and further tests are still pending. Neither James nor the Lakers have commented on the possibility of an extended absence. Video from the Dallas Mavericks Morning News showed LeBron James visibly limping after the game. In the third quarter, he clutched his ankle after a short while on the court in pain. Despite the discomfort, LeBron James stayed in the game.
“It’s great,” LeBron James remarked. “But I wasn’t going to leave the game and give up our chances of stealing a win after losing.” LeBron James, the Lakers’ scoring leader with 29.5 points per game, announced before the All-Star break that the rest of the season is essential to avoid missing the playoffs for a second straight year.
