In early January, the Los Angeles Lakers brought in DeMarcus Cousins for a workout, and currently they still have a spot open on their roster if they’re looking for more size and the versatility of having a centre who could step out and shoot the three.
DeMarcus Cousins could be a great guy to go after in free agency. We’re likely going to see a lot of players enter the buyout market over the next few weeks, but DeMarcus Cousins is a guy who has remained a free agent throughout the entirety of this season.
Now when you look at the buyout market, the issue that could pop up for the Lakers is the fact that a lot of these guys might want to go to contending teams, and at this stage, the Lakers aren’t really contenders. The Los Angeles Lakers currently sit at the 13th seed in the Western Conference, and they’re at a point where they’re going to need to get every win they can. They’re going to need to fight night in and night out because that could really determine if they’re going to make the playoffs or not, so they need as many wins as possible, and that’s why I think bringing in someone for their 15th roster spot should be a priority.
Having as much depth as you can on a nightly basis, especially as injury insurance in case you see injuries popping up and you need some guy to fill some minutes, I mean, signing a guy like DeMarcus Cousins could be a good option we haven’t seen him in the league since last season nobody picked him up for this new year and DeMarcus Cousins who has a great offensive game his defensive game isn’t the best, but he has a great offensive skill set it’s just a matter of the efficiency and if he can hit his threes at a high level he could be a legitimate threat when it comes to his floor spacing abilities and his ability to score in the post, Demarcus cousins has a versatile game that fit well next to Anthony Davis prior to his injury that ended up really hurting his career DeMarcus Cousins had a big injury and then more injuries followed and now that has led to the point where we’re at now where he’s not even in the league despite the fact that he’s in multiple time All-Star and at one point one of the best centres in the entirety of the league if not the best centre in the entire league but maybe if given another chance and given a consistent role with the team cousins could really Blossom I think that it’d at least be worth considering signing DeMarcus Cousins or another big man, or looking at adding another wing. I think that those should be the priorities.
I would hope that the Lakers wouldn’t look at adding another guard, especially if they want to go to these more like three or four guard lineups. I just don’t know how well that’s going to work if you’re the Lakers. I think adding some more size, whether it’s on the wing or when it comes to a big man, would be the best idea moving forward when you look at the buyout market and potential free agents who you could sign.
