Tony jones of the athletic was recently on a podcast where he gave an update on the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz trade talks and it looks like the lakers and jazz have had some talks and have been trying to go back and forth, but they’re kind of far apart and the jazz were seeking one of the Los Angeles Lakers first round picks but the asking price for that first-round pick is probably too much for what the jazz are willing to pay.
So if the jazz only wanted one future first-round pick what would a trade look like well maybe it could involve Rudy Gay Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson because Mike Conley he isn’t exactly on the best deal when you consider his age i think that his deal isn’t the best one and it’s also longer term than Russell Westbrook’s deal and the lakers would still get a bench scorer in Jordan Clarkson and Rudy Gay is a bit of an older veteran, so he could definitely help out the team a bit.
But i don’t think he would be a guy who a ton of teams would be interested in trading for around the league but it does look like Russell Westbrook would be open to a trade from the lakers so that’s something to keep in mind as we move forward in this off season and see what the Los Angeles Lakers end up deciding to do whether that’s run it back with Westbrook or try and find the right to trade and make a trade happen,
i think if the lakers are willing to give up two future first round picks this could be a trade that could make both the lakers and jazz happy the lakers get jarred Vanderbilt a young player who has a lot of upsides especially defensively i think he could help out the team a lot and then Jordan Clarkson he could be a bench scorer for them Bowie on bogdanovic could provide more scoring for the lakers alongside Clarkson and also Rudy Gay he could be a veteran who could play some defense and hit some threes for you but when you look at other potential trade scenarios maybe Bojan Bogdanovic Jordan Clarkson and Malik Beasley joining the lakers could be a scenario where the lakers end up adding multiple guys who can provide scoring who can space the floor i mean you’re adding three shooters to your roster that would be really valuable if your la now defensively this trade wouldn’t help you out a ton so that’s something you also have to keep in mind.
But when you look at the Los Angeles Lakers current options at least based on trade rumors i feel like they would be better off to try and work something out with Utah because it doesn’t seem like they really have many other options now i feel like the Utah Jazz would probably like a trade like this where the lakers end up trading away Russell Westbrook and two future first round picks, and they end up adding Rudy Gay Mike Conley and Bowie on bogdanovic.
But if I’m la i would not trade to future first round picks for a trade like this so i guess we’ll have to see if the lakers do ultimately decide if that they’re willing to give up multiple picks to try and improve this roster because i feel like that’s the real avenue where they could find the right trade if they’re willing to give up two future unprotected first round picks.
