If the Chicago Bulls do decide to move towards a rebuild, and they trade away DeMar DeRozan the Los Angeles Lakers are favored to be their next team.
he Los Angeles Lakers have gotten off to a tough start to the season I mean they started off the year at one point they were two and ten, and they have gotten better but with this recent Anthony Davis injury news things could get more difficult for La as this season continues to push on DeMar DeRozan was an all-nba guy last year a guy who was the leader of a Chicago Bulls team who made it to the NBA Playoffs he was in Elite mid-range scorer last year he’s kept that up this year.
And he’s a guy who was one of the best players in the league so if the Los Angeles Lakers could make a trade for him happen on paper I feel like people would think okay the Lakers are in a good position where they could contend if they traded away Russell Westbrook and two future first-round pigs to add DeMar DeRozan and Nicole vucevic a lot of people would think that could take the Lakers to the next level but personally I’m a little skeptical we look back to the Russell Westbrook trade which at the time I thought was a great trade.
I mean you’re adding a guy to take pressure off LeBron James and Anthony Davis and at the time I feel like there were concerns about okay yeah the spacing it could be bad but you know what they’re star players they’ll figure out how to work it out but then the Lakers didn’t sign the right Supporting Cast around LeBron 80 and Westbrook and also Russ Brooke has struggled a bit in LA and with all of that the Lakers haven’t been able to put together a season like many would have expected over these past couple years.
I mean this year they’ve gotten up to a tough start last year they didn’t make the playoffs some of that is injuries but some of that is just the issue of Westbrook’s fate and I feel like Demar would have a similar struggle with fit on this Lakers team because he’s not a good floor spacer he does bring a lot when it comes to his mid-range scoring abilities but if the floor isn’t spaced out he’s going to struggle with that I feel like and Anthony Davis is going to need his room to work in the paint.
I just feel like when you put all these guys together if you had a big three of them Demar A. D and LeBron it could be pretty complicated I know the Bulls have had these issues going on and all of this drama and I’ve said many times I feel like it would be better for the Lakers.
If they just went after some role players even if a guy likes Zach LaVine was available for the Lakers to pull off a trade for I feel like adding role players could really help out this team more and be more beneficial if the Lakers do want to get back to contention because we saw in the 2020 bubble how the Lakers were able to win a championship with LeBron ad and solid role players and even looking at the 2020-2021 team where they had Dennis Schroeder Montrezel Harrell Marc Gasol Kyle kuzma guys like that you look at that team they were still able to play well even with Anthony Davis.
And LeBron James missing time throughout That season the Lakers were still able to stay afloat and make it to the playoffs even with the injury issues that LeBron and Anthony Davis had, so I feel like depth is is really valuable especially in the current day nba where teams are so talented.
