Looking at a Los Angeles Lakers trade idea where d’angelo, Russell and Jordan Clarkson return to the team what’s interesting about this trade is the lakers trade away Russell Westbrook and only give up one future first-round pick so i think it could be a good move for Lakers.
so in this trade scenario the lakers add d’angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson and Rudy Gay, and they trade away Russell Westbrook and Kendrick Nunn, and they also trade away their 2027 unprotected first-round pick to the Utah Jazz and their 2023 second-round pick to the Minnesota timber wolves in this trade.
The timber wolves add Mike Conley and Kendrick Nunn so although they do trade away d’angelo Russell they get Mike Conley who can be their starting point guard in this upcoming season.
A veteran guard who can still be solid from three and play some good defense, and they also add Kendrick Nunn who if he’s healthy can be a good instant offense guy off the bench the Minnesota timber wolves gave up quite a few players who could have played important rotational minutes for them in this upcoming season to add Rudy Robert so in this move they would add two guys who could play some important rotational minutes for them.
Which i think could definitely be good when it comes to improving their overall depth then the Utah Jazz they end up getting Russell Westbrook and a 2027 first-round pick from the lakers that pick could be very valuable down the line and i could see why a team like Utah who is moving into a rebuild would like to get a pick like that from the lakers now when you look at this trade scenario d’angelo Russell returning to the team could be a really good move for lakers.
Because he is a good play-making point guard, but he also can space the floor and create his own shot which are two things i think the lakers could really use and Jordan Clarkson he could be a guy who could provide a lot of offense off the bench for la and then adding Rudy Gay could also be a solid move for the lakers because Rudy Gay could provide them some additional wing depth which i think they need and then you look at this trade from the Minnesota timber wolves perspective they are going to get that additional depth.
And they get a future second-round pick which could help them out as well and the Utah Jazz all three of these players are on two-year deals so the Utah Jazz would be able to get off some of that long-term money and Russell Westbrook is only on an expiring contract they also get that lakers pick that could be really valuable that’s a 2027 unprotected first-round pick.
But going into training camp there could be opportunities for players to earn more minutes in the rotation and also the lakers have one open roster spot, and they could bring in some guys to compete for that spot through training camp.
