After the patrick Beverly trade it’s reportedly more likely that Russell Westbrook will be off the lakers active roster by the start of training camp.
Which means that the lakers could either look to send him home like the rockets did with John Wall essentially telling him not to play, or the lakers could look at trying to trade Russell Westbrook, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re going to rush into something and try to make a move immediately, but that does mean that they’ll try to look at some trade options, hopefully looking for players, that will fit well on their roster in this upcoming season.
It seems like the jazz are motivated to get a Donovan Mitchell trade done, prior to the start of training camp, and that could help move things along for the lakers as they look to make a Russell Westbrook trade, also eric Pincus a bleacher report published an article, that i thought was interesting, but a nba executive said the lakers have three remaining obvious partners, they should pursue to make a Russell Westbrook swap in the pacers, the spurs or the jazz and the lakers are reportedly interested in myles turner.
And of course they have had interest and buddy hield in the past, i think that they would like to have them on their roster based on the fact that last off season, they almost had a deal for buddy Hield Done, and the lakers want to have guys that are going to help them compete, they’re not just going to make a move to get off of Russell Westbrook’s contract, and they’re trying to find guys that will fit well on the roster, and help them win in this upcoming season.
Really when you look at trade packages around the league, i think that Indiana Pacers package is probably the best one but the thing is the lakers could end up having to give up two future first round picks, that is a lot especially since those picks are in 2027, and 2029 those picks are far down the line, who knows what the lakers will be doing by then, but maybe the lakers shouldn’t care although they could try to get some more leverage in these trade talks, maybe the best move is just saying you know what we’ll trade these two future first round picks, because not only will that put a championship contender around LeBron James and Anthony Davis with patrick Beverley, buddy hield, lebron and then you’d have anthony davis and myles turner as a potential starting five, you also look at the fact that if the lakers make a move like that it could show free agents in the future.
The lakers are a team that are willing to go all in to put the right players around their stars and that could attract free agents, to the team even looking far down the line so maybe it’s worth giving up those picks, as the lakers try to make a move, you look at adding myles turner and buddy hield to this roster, that could really change everything for the lakers, as they look to try and get back to championship contender status, the lakers recently made a move to trade for patrick Beverley.
