After the trade for Rui hachimura the Los Angeles Lakers roster looks a little bit different and with that today we’re going to be going over what the team is looking like and also talking about what a potential depth chart could be for the team.
I think that the Lakers could go with the starting five of Patrick Beverley, Lonnie Walker IV, Rui hachimura, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, I do think that Thomas Bryant in the starting five could be absolutely great, but with hachimura being six foot eight, I don’t think you’re gonna play him at the two you’re not going to play LeBron at the two and you want to have Anthony Davis and LeBron in the starting five.
So if they’re looking to start hachimura, then Thomas Bryant would likely have to go to the bench and I don’t exactly hate that because Russell Westbrook, he’s such a high level playmaker, and he can give Thomas Bryant good looks around the rims, so that he can score you get that extra offense Off the Bench and speaking of the bench this trade gives the Lakers a ton of extra depth, I mean the fact that you’re able to slot in an additional Wing really changes a lot for what a depth chart could look like all of a sudden you don’t have too many guards, I mean you still have plenty, but I don’t think that the Lakers are going to have to run those three or even four guard lineups out there sometimes like they were doing before just due to the lack of wing size that, they had now you have a guy with a legitimate size and scoring abilities on the wing, who you can start alongside LeBron James or play off the bench and with that you wonder what guard ends up going to the bench the Lakers have been starting Dennis Schroder and Patrick Beverley has been starting the entirety of the Season Lonnie Walker IV has been out with injury recently and Austin Rivers has even gotten some starts,
So once everyone’s healthy although the Lakers did just trade one of their guards there will likely still be some competition for some guard minutes, but you’re not going to have the issue of having a lack of wings, I mean sure adding another Wing could be good but the Lakers have looked to Troy Brown Junior as a starter, and he’s been solid now you’re adding a new Wing who could start for you JTA has been able to give you good minutes you could run, when Gabriel as a four if you need some more Wing size the Lakers have a lot more options as a result of this trade well like, I said already having a good amount of guards guys.
So they can trust offensively at those guard spots and if hachimura can hit his threes at an efficient rate like, he’s been doing this season, he’s been around 35 which is solid, if he can do that with the Lakers that would be so huge for this team, I think that that shooting would take the Lakers to a new level and the thing is prior to injury hachimura was shooting the ball better and there’s been a lot of going on with his role on the Wizards and trade rumors and stuff like that.
So I do think that there could be an opportunity for growth with hachimura, now that he’s in a new situation, I mean the Wizards pretty much have the opposite problem with the Lakers, they had too much winged up.
