LeBron James had some pretty interesting things to say post-game after the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Miami Heat and fell to 14 and 21 on the season LeBron was talking about winning and talking about how playing basketball just to play isn’t in his DNA anymore.
And he wants to go out there and have a chance to compete for NBA championships that makes sense at this point in his career he’s pretty much seen it all when it comes to regular season basketball in year 20. But at this point he wants to win and the Lakers when he committed with that two-year extension I felt like it was an understanding there that they would be willing to give up those future draft picks to put a contender around him and Anthony Davis, and they haven’t done that they failed to do that and have not traded those future draft picks to add players who fit well on the team but even forget that erase that look at the fact that the Lakers have an open roster spot and have yet to sign anyone despite having positional needs both.
When it comes to the Center position and on the wing they waved a perfectly capable three-point shooter and Matt Ryan who had the guts to take a huge shot against the New Orleans Pelicans and hit it to send the game to overtime he was shooting the three ball really well but despite that the Lakers ended up waving him that doesn’t make sense, and they haven’t even signed anybody in his place just leaving a roster spot open when they could desperately use another guy who can make impact in their rotation prior to the season starting Rob Pelinka said the Lakers will do everything they can to improve the roster including trading first round picks.
Because LeBron committed to the Lakers by signing an extension and the Lakers haven’t done that we’re sitting here at this point in almost January, and we still have yet to see the Los Angeles Lakers make any move besides trading for Patrick Beverley and like I said waving a three-point sharpshooter in Matt Ryan when you could have used his spacing just doesn’t really make any sense and when LeBron went out there and made those comments.
I feel like it was saying something to put pressure on the organization I feel like he made those comments so that the Lakers would know he’s frustrated and in the off-season LeBron James could request a trade if he wanted to he is not eligible to be traded during this season but if the Lakers are unwilling to trade those picks to put a contender around him and Anthony Davis maybe that’s the direction he takes because he can’t just continue to waste these years of good basketball as we saw him do last season.
And so far this year it looks like it’s going to be a repeat of that unless the Lakers can make a huge turnaround similar to what we’ve seen with the Brooklyn Nets they were able to turn their season around completely this year maybe the Lakers could do something like that, but they might need a trade to make that happen.
