The Lakers made a couple of moves last night, now we’re going to be talking about recent Edition and new signing Shaquille Harrison now this is a South Bay Laker signing this is one of those extremely low risk High reward type of moves where you know realistically especially with the Lakers current guard depth.
I mean at the point guard position in its own the Lakers have Russell Westbrook Dennis Schroder Patrick Beverley and Kendrick Nunn so Shaq Harrison finding legitimate role on this team would be very hard to come by last season at the g-league level for the blue coats 26 starts he averaged 13 points six assists five rebounds and two Steals.
He also shot 37 percent from downtown so it’s kind of enticing now here’s the thing with Shaq he’s been in the league for a little bit he’s been on a variety of different teams but one thing he could never really get going was his offense that really was the issue because defensively Harrison is a phenomenal car Defender phenomenal guard Defender now.
I don’t have defensive concerns for the Lakers but let’s just use a dire situation let’s say Kendrick Nunn ends up getting let’s say Kendrick Nunn and Russell Westbrook end up getting traded for Buddy hield the mouse turns just a hypothetical trade here well all right now you just lost two point guards so you went from having an abundance of point guards to not being thin but say Schroeder say Patrick Beverley one of them gets injured or the Lakers just want another guard on your team on your 15-man roster Shaquille’s a guy where I wouldn’t feel bad I can’t fully trust it until I’ve seen it but this man is so resilient like you know the most amount of points is average in a season was like eight in his first couple of years in the league several years ago still in his prime he’s perfectly in his prime actually.
And it was just offense we know he can provide defense he’s always been even if he’s getting 10 minutes a night 15 minutes a night 20 minutes a night you know he’s getting you at least a steal, and he’s going to be on your bench because he’s usually coming off the bench he’s probably your best defensive guard that you have available it’s just he’s never let it click offensively he’s a career 28 three-point shooters so seeing in I know it’s just 26 games and I know it is the G League seeing him shoot 37 from downtown that gets me excited alright that gets me excited.
So I don’t think Russ is going anywhere I don’t think Hendrick’s going anywhere I don’t think the Lakers are doing any trades before the start of the season.
