So originally it was announced that tonight’s starting lineup would look like this Russell Westbrook, Patrick Beverley, Austin Rivers, LeBron James and Anthony Davis and it turns out that Anthony Davis is out tonight he is a late night scratch originally they were going to start him. But because of back tightness they have decided to sit him as a precautionary reason now this is a little unfortunate.
I know some people are going to completely overreact over this you know but look it’s preseason he may have some little back tightness he was probable yesterday he looked great yesterday this could also just be a way for them to not have to play him ample minutes just allow him to get some rests allow him to kind of get his body right stuff like that it’s preseason.
You don’t want to see him get hurt get injured anything like that if it was a regular season game he’d probably play if it was a playoff game I have absolutely confident that he would play but nonetheless it is disappointing right you want to see Anthony Davis with these guys you want to see how he plays and how the flow works with all the these guys and it’s a little disappointing.
So I do understand that and from that angle but let’s not overreact to it let’s not freak out because he’s not going to play this game again precautionary reasons it’s not anything severe it’s not anything major it isn’t the regular season.
So why what’s the point what do you gain by having Anthony Davis play even if he doesn’t make the injury worse even if he looks 100 out there even if he’s fine let’s say he comes out, and he plays 16 minutes again, and he puts up 30 and 10 in that 16 minutes and you know still it’s not worth the risk who cares you know it doesn’t put a w in the win column this will get a good opportunity to see different lineups and different match ups what we have besides Anthony Davis.
Because look Anthony Davis is going to miss time this season right so it would be nice to be able to see what other options do we have what other players do we have what other guys can kind of step in on those nights when Anthony Davis isn’t playing I could see winning Gabriel and I’m excited to see the Lakers I’m excited to see the rest of the guys.
I still want to see the improvements with Russ still want to see LeBron James maybe step up a little bit more especially with the absence of Anthony Davis but all in all I think this is going to be a good game it’s going to be a good test against the Phoenix Suns team again if we get blown out in the second half I’m not worried about it’s not a concern to mine it’s not something that I really care for you know I don’t care how we look when we have the three rookies at playing 25 plus minutes that’s not a concern of mine right what do the core guys what are the rotation guys what does that look like or is it good is it bad is it does it seem functional how do we stack up against the Phoenix Suns players I have no problem with Anthony Davis sitting out of this game, and we’ll see we’ll see how it goes.
But you know we’ll definitely have some more conversations about it and give you more thoughts and opinions on the live stream later tonight don’t miss that the post game live show stream.
